Green Bay Packaging Installs Packaged Boilers, Reduces Emissions While Increasing Efficiency

There was variability in boiler operation by the shift operators, and the boilers were not monitored or optimized for production.


GBP imageFounded in 1933, Green Bay Packaging (GBP) is a vertically integrated company consisting of corrugated container plants, a folding carton plant, recycled and virgin containerboard mills, pressure sensitive label operations, timberlands, and a sawmill. The company operates 36 facilities in 14 states from its headquarters in Green Bay, Wis. 

Challenge:

Providing custom natural gas- and biogasfired watertube boilers for new manufacturing facility in condensed timeframe.

Solution:

Installed two Cleaver-Brooks packaged D-type boilers of 250,000 lb/hr each, including Natcom® burners, deaerator, controls system and freestanding stack.

Results:

Significantly reduced particulate, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and greenhouse gas emissions.
